Lavipharm's name is currently associated with innovative and state-of-the art technologies that improve pharmaceutical and health care products.
With such an advantage, Lavipharm enters into agreements with many multinational companies for the development of products that belong to various pharmaceutical categories, based on technologies that the company develops. These technologies are:
- Drug and Cosmetic Delivery systems, with the following technologies:
- Transdermal Drug Delivery Systems:
TDDSs are patches that enable certain drugs to pass through the skin layers and diffuse into the bloodstream. This controlled transdermal delivery can provide certain therapeutic advantages, such as improved patient convenience and compliance to the medication, avoidance of hepatic metabolism, known as "first-pass effect", and improved safety. The therapeutic categories that benefit, today, by these transdermal technologies are: angina, female or male Hormone Replacement Therapy, hypertension, pain management, nausea, smoking cessation and acne.
- Intra Oral Drug Delivery Systems (IODS):
Lavipharm has developed two unique, proprietary Intra-Oral Delivery Systems (IODS) that provide flexibility, comfort and continuous drug delivery over a defined period of time: Quick-Dis™ and Slow-Dis™ systems. These systems are thin films that can be placed in the buccal cavity. These systems can also be modified for rectal or vaginal use.
- Solid Gel and Liquid Patch Technologies
These systems are thin films based on polymers, and deliver substances through the skin, at a controlled rate.
- Particle Engineering Technologies:
Using these technologies, particle size, solubilization and formulation of substances can be improved, their release can be extended and controlled and their bitter taste can be masked.
Lavipharm's particle design and engineering capabilities improve the effectiveness and utility of new, as well as, of already existing well-known drugs, covering the needs of new drug delivery dosage forms.
Lavipharm focuses on the following Particle Design Engineering Technologies:
- Supercritical Fluids -SCF:
SCF allows the formation of very small particles (with sizes from a tenth of a nanometer to a few hundredths of a micrometer). SCF technology's applications vary from generating particles of specific size and size distribution to micro-encapsulation, impregnation, coating, extraction and fractionation. Due to its different SCF techniques, Lavipharm becomes unique among its competitors: ENCAP-X™, PRO-DRY™, RAPID-X™, INFUSE-XT™ and COMPL-XT™.
- Drug Crystal Dispersion -DCD:
The process converts the drug into stabilized microcrystals which are supported on an easily soluble or dispersible substrate.
- Drug Polymer Complexion-DPC:
This technique can bond molecules to polymers to form unique, reversible complexes that enhance drug solubility. As an added benefit, this technology can even be used to mask the bitter taste of drugs and improve patient compliance.
