Products that cover modern consumer's self-treatment cure needs
A new trend regarding self-medication which has been growing rapidly over the last few years in Europe is the one referring to Over The Counter (OTC) products. These medicines do not need doctor's prescription. Doctors, pharmacists or even mass media are the channels where OTC products are becoming known to consumers.
According to AESGP data that are published in June 2004 and refer to OTC products' sales in Europe during 2002, it is shown that in countries with high standard of living OTC market is more developed. In Germany the sales reached €4.205 millions in values, in England €2.8 millions, in France €1.5 millions, in Italy €1.3 millions, while in Greece the sales reached €250 million.
